Anyone with advice on disk brake conversion for '64 C10? Looking to do the fronts, and hoping to run the stock 6-lug rims. Catalogs have a bewildering variety - wondering who's already done this one and what they might suggest. All help appreciated!

If you want to run drop spindles as well, you can either purchase the spindles you want and get the 6 lug rotor or you could get a kit from somewhere like performance online or CPP.

If you want stock height spindles, pick up a stock set from a early 70s squarebody and buy a set of 6 lug rotors from CPP through Summit Racing.

I've got a kit from Performance Online on my 63 that has been installed and used regularly for about 7 years now. My kit came with new stock height spindles, 6 lug rotors, new ball joints and tie rod ends, adapter sleeves for the tie rods, and new calipers and hoses. My spindles are reamed to squarebody specs because the spindles reamed to 63-70 spec wasn't that popular yet.

It was nice to have all the new parts, but since I went with stock spindles, I could have gone with spending a little less by using stock squarebody parts. I just didn't know the interchangeability back then as I was new to these trucks.

Stock wheels won't clear the calipers unless you run spacers- make sure you press in longer studs for enough thread engagement if you want to run the minimal thickness slip on spacer needed to clear- roughly 3/8" but double check your setup.

Or you can run a 1.25" bolt on spacer to move the wheel out without needing longer studs. As narrow as the stock rear axle is, only spacing the front out that far makes it look weird.

A third option is to find 70's/80's six lug hubcab wheels that have a the correct inner barrel profile to clear calipers.

Here's a guide to hubcap wheel styles, it shows the difference in inner barrel styles- 45* angled for drums, or 90* stepped to clear calipers.

I did a 5-lug front disc kit from CPP on my 64 C10. I haven't driven it yet because I'm doing a total overhaul of the drive train as well, but I've installed the kit and I'm happy with the results so far.

My truck has a 5-lug CPP kit (installed by PO) as well. Works fine.
