Jegs rally wheels question
Has anyone used the six lug 15x8 6x5.5 rally wheels offered by Jegs? Their page says the don’t fit but the specs seems to say they will?

Here is a photo of what I am thinking about purchasing. Their site says they won’t fit but I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

Is a 4” backspace too much?

Center bore on factory wheel is 3 1/2". Jeg's wheel looks a LOT larger.
Here is a factory 15x8 6x5.5" wheel. 3 7/8" back spacing, 5/8" Offset. Used on 73-85 Chevrolet Military Blazer 4x4. |

I have two 3 nub 15x8’s but haven’t found another pair so I am searching for an alternative

Try these. My truck has 5 lug discs, and I bought the Wheels Vintiques 15x8. The 6 lug should be fine.

Re: Jegs rally wheels question
My 5 lug wheels are centered by the lug nuts, not the hub. They work fine that way. Lug-centered wheels have been normal in the aftermarket pretty much forever. Most 6 lug aftermarket wheels will have the larger center bore so that they will fit more applications, like Toyota Land Cruisers.
But I'm thinking back to my first career selling wheels and tires from the mid-70s into the late 90s, and I recall an issue on the old GM trucks. I remember that many old drum brake GM trucks (and cars too) had big rivets between the lugs that attached the drums to the hubs. I don't see any rivet head clearance stamped into the Jegs Rallys. The nubbed wheels you have now look OK, and the Wheel Vintiques from Summit also look like they have the stamped relief. So I'm guessing that the Jegs Rallys won't bolt up flush unless the rivet heads have been removed or clearanced. In the old days, lots of people just chiseled the heads off. Or you could grind them way down almost flush. But I'm betting that's why Jegs says they don't fit. |
Re: Jegs rally wheels question
They did have rivets on the front drums, but nobody ever put them back when the first brake job was done.

Thank’s for all the replies! I decided on these, 18x8.5. Main reason is I was able to find a set with tires and they had less than 100 miles on them.

Re: Jegs rally wheels question
WheelVintiques has a "Style 62" wheel that is supposed to fit (as far as I can tell they do, but I have not purchased) and has the nubs to accept a center cap..
