Valve Cover Gaskets

I've looked & cannot find anything on removing the valve covers on my 97 5.7 engine. They are leaking & want to replace the gaskets. I need too know what needs to be removed to get to the covers off. I don't want to have to remove anything that doesn't need removing. Any links, videos showing this? TIA

Far as I remember you just remove the center bolts on top (4 or 5, I can't remember), then lift them off. I never had to replace any on the trucks I had with the newer style V8.

It's 4 bolts on the TBI and Vortec engines. On the TBI, the A/C compressor has to be moved out of the way to get the passenger valve cover off but I'm not sure if the lines interfere on the Vortec engines like they do on the TBI.

I'll reword it. I know the 4 bolts come off to remove. What other bolt ons & clip ons have to be removed or set aside. I figured the AC Compressor had to be set aside, what about that compressor bracket? I'm old school SBC man from way back in the day & I don't want to disrupt any of that computer crap that surrounds these engines. Would hope for a link or video for this. Any other help would be great.....

Turns out that I will not have to replace the gaskets. The oil filler tube & PVC grommet were leaking oil at the base. Unscrewed the filler tube & resealed it & replaced both valve grommets on both covers.

What’s hilarious is I think these are super analog.
