Engine upgrade

I am looking to get some solid push rods and a true roller timing chain for my 350 in my 79 stepside. Can't seem to find the push rods in summit and there are a ton of timing chains to choose from. any recommendations?

Thanks
Chris

If it’s the original engine, you should be able to go to rock auto and pull up the parts you need.

Just curiously why pushrods? Lifter issues?

On a stock engine any premium double roller (like Cloyes C3023XSP) should be more than fine. To do a timing chain cover lower seal right the oil pan has to come down so may as well drop the pan and do an oil pump while it's off. (Melling standard volume is fine for stock) You may have a groove on your harmonic balancer so address that while it is off. And may as well put a new water pump on it while it's off too.

Do you mean a one piece push rod. I am not sure if I ever seen a solid one in a Chevrolet. I am thinking you need the drilled push rods so oil can get from the lifter to the rockers.

Ok, those are called "Welded Ball" ends. And Comp also makes "Pressed-In Ball" and "Pressed-In Tip". The ones I use are called ""Formed Tip" or "One-Piece". Your 7809-16 are 5/16" dia x 7.266" long and the closes "Formed Tip" to yours is 7636-16 which are 5/16" dia x 7.250" long.
