One owner 68 Half Ton 50th anniversary Time Capsule

5 Attachment(s)
Lucked out and picked up a beautiful one owner 68 half ton in the 50th anniversary combo. 80K original miles and has been garaged it's entire life. It was sitting in a Glendale, Ca garage for the last 30 years. I'm going to go through the motor and transmission and clean her back up as is.

All original paint and 99% rust free. Just the right amount of options too ;)

One small little dent that will be popped out very easy. I can't believe how clean the paint and interior are on this thing, it's just layered with dust.

Hope you all enjoy the find.

Excellent find for sure. How long have you been on the hunt? Were you specifically looking for a 50Th Anniversary truck?

Great find!

Are those split rims 15" with nubs? If clip style, how are those '61 car hubcaps mounted?

What a gem! Please post lots more pictures as you clean it up.

I bet that bed floor is amazing too. The interior is spectacular.

Also, one more example of 50th and 327 (or 396). I convinced there aren’t many (if any) base engine 50ths.

That’s a great find!

My 50th was originally a 307 w/3speed column shift

Yes, my trained eye confirms those are 15" lock rim wheels with clips and '57-'60 era pickup truck hubcaps and same era wheels. '68's C10's were available with heavy duty lock ring wheels as shown in photo below, but SPID doesn't show them, so they are probably added later or they are just "rollers" for storage.

Thank you everyone. I’ve had a handful of really nice original paint short beds over the years but I’ve always gotten crazy offers and sold them. Been on the hunt for a nice 68-72 half ton long bed with original paint, not specifically a 50th anniversary, but I’ve always loved this combo.

The bed looks very very nice from what I can see when I peek in there.

The rims are 16” and I don’t know much info on them. Going to take me some time to start working on it, but I’m looking forward to it.

It’s going to clean up beautifully.

What’s with the bed cover thingy? Never seen that before.

When I first saw the ad, I thought it was a pop up camper of some sort. I was surprised when it was just what you see, an aluminum cap like a tonneau cover that lifts up from the back like a tonneau cover. It has some holes, so it’s getting tossed.

You're right on the hubcaps. Now that I let my trained eye focus in on the caps themselves better. Very similar to '61 car caps at a glance

I thought they looked like 16s. The reason I said 15" is because I have only seen, or can only recall, one 55-59 shortbed that had 6-lug split rims and those were 15s. That was a friend's truck. I bet you don't want those but someone will. An oddity, pretty rare.

I'd love to have that bed cover on my '72 K2500.

Re: One owner 68 Half Ton 50th anniversary Time Capsule

The SPID says P01 wheel covers, so I'd say that the split rims are not original.

I bought a 50th short bed from the original owners family recently and it is a inline 6/3 on the tree.

This was a great find. What is the backstory on how you found it? Looks like it had been in that garage for a long time. Also, what is parked next to it under the cover in that garage. Amazing there are still old cars and trucks to be found in such highly populated areas like Glendale. I grew up in Cerritos, very close to Cypress.
