Timing chain for a hencho Mexico good wrench engine

Hello all,
Got a good wrench replacement engine in 72 gmc and need to replace the timing chain but can't say its a 72 350 engine. The casting number is 10066036 its a made in Mexico engine. In research it says it was made in 94 but all the trucks at that point had differences from earlier engines. So my question is has anyone replaced a timing chain in one of these engines and have the brand and part number they used?

Thanks for the info
Shaun

all small block chevy timing chain sets are the same regardless of engine size.pick a good quality unit and you're good to go.

I used a summit set. The gears and chain appeared to be good quality. Likely Chinese. It worked out very well. I started with a new flat tappet cam and quickly flatten it. Went to a roller cam and it accepted a summit button behind a summit cover nicely. Some shimming work needed but I think that is normal. Bottom line, unless you are running for money, the summit chain will meet your needs

I used a Cloyes double roller timing chain. They have different flavors (billet, etc.) but a basic one should do just fine: C3023X.

On the two SBC's I've built, i used the Romac timing chains and harmonic balancers. one of them is a goodwrench engine like yours, i used the CS130 timing chain assembly. Romac uses a chain manufacture in germany (iwis), which is supposed to be the best. i'm not an expert, its only what i've read on lots of forums over the years. i can say the Romac stuff is pretty nice.

they've got 6 different listings for SBC's - http://www.romacusa.com/downloads/RM...plications.pdf

One of these lower priced Cloyes sets should work for your engine and outlast the original one by a long shot.

C-3023X
C-3055

Thank you all for the input. The reason why I ask is because my buddy brought over a double rollerof timing chain set for For small block 350 and it rubbed up against the casting of the engine on the backside of the Cam gear . He said I don't understand it it's made for a Chevy 350 thats why I have some confusion as to what to get

I put one of those Mexican engines in an 89 Suburban I used to have. I believe it was sold to me as a K engine. I remember it was only $1500 thru a Chevy dealer.
Worked great and had good power.

I used a Cloyes double roller on a Goodwrench 350 engine and had to clearance the 3 oil gallery bosses with a die grinder. Might be a good idea to check just in case.

Yeah hogdaddy thats what happened it was hitting the oil gallery holes. Not looking to do that here just want a stock set, the one I have is good just a little wear. Figured do it now while its apart.

So the c 3023x cloyes ends up hitting the oil galley holes casting will try the c 3055 now. *♂️

TBH this is the Cloyes double row chain I used but assume the others are similar.
While grinding the bosses, gallery holes were unaffected.
I believe they only needed a little clearance at tops of bosses.

I even contacted Cloyes and they were unaware of the situation.

Sounds like I gave you some bad info! Hope the 3055 doesn't have any clearance issues.

Many years ago, I bought the least expensive Cloyes double roller timing set for a stock rebuild. I thought it was one of those two P/Ns.

Nothing wrong with a Cloyes stock replacement on a stock engine if you can find the P/N. Rock Auto shows a Cloyes #3001K for $12.04. Also a Melling #3499S for $15.72.
