A question about the door pull straps

Is there anything else that I could make the door-pull strap out of, that would somewhat resemble a factory strap? I know you could use just about anything but I'd like it to be conceivable that this improvised strap was factory.

The prices for pull straps, chrome caps, screws and washers make the total cost around $80 just to get two new straps on the truck. I can justify a lot, but that's really pushing it.

So I figured I'd just buy the chrome caps for $25, and source all the rest myself. Washers, screws, and the pull straps. But which strap material can I use, that could be mistaken for factory by someone who wasn't familiar with these old trucks?

The truck is 87 silverado, with the tan interior if that helps. Thanks!

I'm not sure if they're listing the different lengths under the same part number. Which is 77202. It's being sold on amazon with that part number, and the reviewers say it doesn't fit. Too short for 87 R10 and 85 blazer.

On the upside, I did find something that will work perfectly and nobody would ever know the difference - Leather belts! All you need is a leather belt from the clothing store that is 1" wide. You will need at least 30" of usable length, in order to have enough. Otherwise you won't be able to set the slack where you want it. So you'll have to cut off most of the end of the belt, that has holes in it. You could spare one hole though, in order for your screw to go through.

Kinda nice cause then you've got leather ones. And your choices are almost endless. I've been looking at people who have fixed cars (miatas and porches) and it looks great. But on the 73-87, you must make sure it's only 1" wide. Any more than that and it's not going to fit. You might be able to squeeze 1 1/6" in there.

Eric makes these awesome aluminum door-pull handles and has been making them for years.

I just ordered a set for my 1980 Chevy K20 SWB 4x4 pickup.
