Always looking to add practical period correct accessories for my truck … Just purchased this early 70’s Sears Cruise Control. Next to install it.

Cool, that will be a nice added option.

Brings back memories. I installed several of these back in the day. The biggest challenge I recall is having enough vacuum to work the actuator. You need vacuum the most going up hill - which is when you don't have as much vacuum!

Nice acquisition! By what means does this system monitor speed? I don’t see any devices that have speedometer cable connections.

For controlling speed, it looks like it uses vacuum with the bellows-looking servo to pull on the throttle?

Would using a vacuum reservoir (like the one on the HVAC system) work?

I had one of these I installed on my '69 way back in the early 90's. It uses a magnet glued/cable tied to the front of the driveshaft with a pickup coil mounted on a bracket above it. Worked fine for me, but I removed later on.

I bought one of those in the '70s for my 69. It still works! I recently picked up another Sears NOS off of Ebay for my daughter's 67 Camaro. Haven't installed it yet.

I think a one of these would help. A couple of my brain cells are telling me that it was actually suggested in the installation instructions.
