1960 C30 towing capacity
There's a fellow in Germany who requires "trailer load" to register his 1960 C30 to tow a trailer. He needs something official looking to print.
I gave him a link to this site so he may show up. |

1960, right? I moved your thread to the 60-66 side of life

Re: 1960 C30 towing capacity
Yes, we in Germany are not allowed to simply attach a hook and pull something with it, everything has to be examined and officially sealed.
Is there something like that for the C10? Thanks for that. |
Re: 1960 C30 towing capacity
The original sales brochure with specifications perhaps?
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...9&pt=727&jsn=8 Or an original 1960 truck owners manual? https://www.ebay.com/itm/37430935925...oaAoFUEALw_wcB |
Re: 1960 C30 towing capacity
Thank you, I have the original operating instructions for my '62,
I hadn't read them, I'll take a closer look. |
Re: 1960 C30 towing capacity
I looked through the tech docs that I've saved, and don't see anything that explicitly mentions towing capacity. Weights and load capacity, yes. But no mention of towing at all. So I don't know that any of that stuff will have what you need.

Maybe someone has a copy, but there's one for sale on eBay-

Re: 1960 C30 towing capacity
I'm not sure if the chevy's are different numbers but over on 6066GMCguy he lists the 1 ton GMC at 8800GVW single rear wheel or 10000GVW dual rear wheel with both having a max 14500GCW.
If you take the trucks stock weight (again GMC 1T I2502 model) of 3495lbs and subtract that from the 14500 you get 11005 left for combined load. Then you have to figure out tongue weight and GVW allowed to see how much trailer you can actually pull. http://6066gmcguy.com/gmcid1.html |
