How to fix edge of door
1 Attachment(s)
My passenger side door sticks out some and not sure how to fix the part in the pic. Doesn't matter how well I get door aligned, the part in red still sticks out. Should I get a different door or is this fixable? The door otherwise is in good shape and original.

I would use a body hammer and dolly to massage it back into place.

Re: How to fix edge of door
Hard to tell in the picture.. Is that the fender/door gap?? If so, it appears the fender might be pushed in also.. This can happen when the fender, for whatever reason, is too close to the door. As the door is opened, it "snags" the fender and pushes it in..
One way to determine which part is bent.. Use a large piece of cardboard to make a template. Insert the cardboard into the gap on the driver's side. Draw a line on the cardboard along the fender edge.. Now, insert the cardboard into the gap on the passenger side and compare the line to the shape of the fender and door. This template can also be used when straightening the bent panel. |

Pretty obvious that the door check has been broken at some point in time and the door has opened too far and damaged the back edge of the fender and the front edge of the door. That can be repaired by someone with a little experience in body work. Don't need to replace anything.... Just my 2¢ worth. LockDoc |

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the cardboard suggestion made by RustyPile and then get someone with some body experience to take a look at it. And Lockdoc is correct, the door check has been broken at some point.
