Weird Rear End
1 Attachment(s)
The pictured 67 GMC is being offered at a local Collector car Auction. Although I said local its 2 1/2 drive from me. This pic is from a video of the truck and noticed the rear wheel is quite a bit more forward that it should be. Has anyone seen this before or know why it's like it is and both sides of the truck are the same.

Re: Weird Rear End
Bad fitting aftermarket trailing arms... Trailing arm crossmember located wrong.. Something ain't right under there..

Re: Weird Rear End
The GMC should have leaf springs. I bet they put the axle where they wouldn't have to modify the driveshaft or something.

Re: Weird Rear End
Longhorn bed ??

Re: Weird Rear End
Maybe a longhorn bed with the seam filled… that bolt hole in the frame looks to be for the exhaust hanger and looks to be in the correct area with the tire compared to mine.

Re: Weird Rear End
While the axles do set forward in the rear wells as standard, this one seems a bit much. FWIU all Chev and GMC trucks had rear coils as standard. Just happens that it is more common GMC trucks were made/ordered with leafs. There are several threads on this. Easy to see if the leafs were optional they would be listed on SPID. Whether SPID is there or altered is another thing.

Re: Weird Rear End
I'm stumped.

Re: Weird Rear End
Could that be a Longbed fleetside box on a short bed frame?

Re: Weird Rear End
That axle is not right. I think we all agree it needs to be moved back.

Re: Weird Rear End
That blue truck is a '67, so the front bottom corner of the bed wheel well isn't rounded the way it was on later years. Here is a side view of another '67. Not having the rounded corner makes the wheel look farther forward.

Re: Weird Rear End
Looks like a longhorn bed on a 127” wheelbase truck.

Re: Weird Rear End
Canadian 1967 GMC 910, yes they had coils in the rear. The red C/10 is correct, rears are not quite centered. But there is something wrong with the blue truck. I'll wager aftermarket parts play into this one.....
