I have a 79 bronco and though of the same thing. I bought a parts bronco one time and someone had installed some really thin plywood with a vinyl material over it. They took small screws and screwed it to the top. Really looked good I saved the pieces and am thinking about installing it in my bronco. Could probably go the same route in you Chevy. Just an idea
