Factory Upper Molding Clipped on, Not

1 Attachment(s)
I always thought the factory upper and lower moldings were clipped onto the box but found out thats not so.. Hoping I can find someone than can straighten it out.Looking into Mar K moldings and yea can but a new one but boy would it still out on the truck with all the other originals showing 50 years of hanging on the truck. I guess I could replace all the upper moldings but for me in Trdeau Land with shipping and exchange and the Governments piece of the pie it'll be about 1500.00 total.

ugh, sorry to hear Greg. Hopefully someone maybe has a slightly used upper they could sell on the board - I bet there is one out there, given how many folks replace for all new. Yes, I too was surprised to see most of my upper trim on my 71 attached w/those types of clips - but I thought the end pieces had drilled holes and the old metal clips that you were probably expecting (if I recall, been a while since I've had that piece off).

I'm in Edmonton I've got one I took off a truck about 20 years ago that is straight. would hate to try and ship it.
If you know someone coming through we could arrange it somehow.

If my memory serves correctly from reading many threads in here about the upper trim, They used to be held on by the metal clips that pop in drilled holes, up til 71 maybe (?) I know on my 70 they are still the metal clips with drilled holes.

the upper and lower molding on my 72 are a combination of molding clips and sticky molding tape.you can usually see the little square blocks with the sticky back.the lowers will be the same if you take them off.take off the nuts for the clips and a heat gun and a wide putty knife or scraper will seperate the sticky ones from the body.i take off the sticky stuff and replace it with new.

I bought Mar-k from Summit the because of the free shipping but I was charged $20 because it was oversized . Came right from Mar-k and well packed . Mar-k shipping was like $100 for the two moldings . Not sure how it would work shipping to Canada
