1972 with a stamp on the firewall that none of my other blazers or trucks have,what's it for?

Used to work at GM. Those numbers are ID numbers for the assembly plant. All major assemblies will have the same number so that they know which parts go to which build sequence. Today it's done with bar codes on decals.
Like Keith said, we never cared about the VIN because that is only given after the vehicles is in it's final stages of assembly. |
