Question on bbc, reverse rotation wp, and Vintage Air
 

My engine uses a Stewart Warner aluminum reverse rotation water pump, and has no bypass hose from the intake to the pump. (No port at all for one either)

So do I need to make a bypass, or an "H" between the two heater hoses on the Vintage Air? (It completely shuts off the coolant flow with a motorized valve)
The stock heater allowed coolant through the heater core at all times...it just didn't let the air pass through it, and blow heat into the cab...but the flow still remained.

The A/C trucks used a vacuum operated shut off valve in one of the heater hoses. I would not worry about it if original type block. If an LS style motor, fwiu there should be flow at all times.

My truck was a no AC truck.
Was also a factory bbc, but that engine was replaced with a heavily modified GM 572.
And now I'm adding Vintage Air AC...which shuts the coolant flow off so there is no flow through the heater hoses. And this engine does not have the short little bypass hose from the front of the intake manifold, to the top of the water pump.

Drill a few holes in the thermostat. The bypass is so coolant flows while the thermostat is closed if there is no bypass it can cause cavitation in the impeller and steam pockets . I drill two small holes I believe 1/16th when I replace the thermo on my 496 big block in the Chevelle . Now this is for having no bypass . I use a valve on the heater hose as the inside of the car got hot because of the coolant circulating in the core .

I don't like the vintage air valve. I don't understand why vintage air doesn't copy the valve that old air uses. Anyway, I am using a manual version of the old air valve with a choke cable to operate it.
