Steering Column Conversion?

Question:
I have a 78 manual tilt column, and a 78 non tilt automatic column. Using both columns, could I convert the automatic column to tilt with the parts from the manual column? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Yes i am sure you can if you have the tools and the knowledge. I found a used column then sent it out and had it professionally rebuilt, as i went from a standard column no cruise, no tilt to a Cruise/Tilt model. The professional shop helped with the wiring as a tilt and a non tilt are wired quite a bit different.

I used three columns both tilt and straight to make one tilt. Just dig in, but make sure you have the key parts for the tilt that work.

I think I have found a nice auto tilt column to use, and will probably sell the manual tilt column to offset the cost of the one I am getting...if it all goes through LOL.

You cannot combine to make the automatic a tilt column. The lower bowl/shift lever housing is not a big enough diameter to allow the ball part of the tilt to pivot if that makes sense.
