I saw this before. It's neat to see and will be a memory that sticks. But my thoughts were the dad could have kept his hands to himself, been more trusting in his son's ability. That's how my dad taught me and how I taught my three kids. I had them watch me, then let them do it

Agreed. My shifter has so much slop I miss the gate on occasion if I haven’t driven it in a while.

I was about 11 when I started learning on a 3OTT, had to slide way up on the seat to push the clutch in. I taught both my boys on a straight shift...'90 Chevy 5 speed on the floor.

That's my view every year when I go to get my 3OTT truck inspected and get to teach some new kid how to drive it to test the brakes....

I can hardly wait to teach my kids to drive in our truck. My son has a few more years (he's 7), but our '71 is already his - he laid claim to it the day I brought it home.
