GM Camshaft Identify

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I have a GM camshaft I am having a hard time figuring out what the specs are.
The numbers on the end of the cam are:

09406R and 071AC

There are no other numbers on the cam. Any help or link to a resource that I can look up this cam and get the specs would help me out alot. Love the forum and there is a lot of great people here.

I know you said there are no other markings on the cam but this site states that the ID markings are usually in the center of the shaft between the lobes

Is this a new GM branded camshaft or aftermarket? The 09406R looks to be laser etched rather than stamped like you would find on an original camshaft.

I did find another number on the opposite end as the distributor gear that is between two lobes. Its either:

ACL 04 287 221 or
ACL 04 287 201

Not sure hard to read But it may help

There are no marking in the center.

I have a 305 "peanut" cam from a 1989 firebird with TBI and it has laser etched part number and QR code on the end and stamped 603 between #1 I&E cam lobes

This is a 90's 350 crate motor with roller lifters and from what I have been able to tell its a Vortec block.

Can you look where the fuel pump lobe would be and post a picture?

Not sure what you mean...but this cam came out of an engine I bought but I have replaced with a new GM cam. I just want to find out what this cam is since it was an unknown.

Was it stored underwater? I would not run that cam with all those pits-even being a roller. Too much risk. I would say that cam is scrap metal. If it was in a Vortec block it's probably a Vortec truck cam no?

looks like someone carved those numbers with a die grinder and a bad case of the DT's ;-)

my eyes are crap, but does anyone else see ACL04. then 387201 ?
Thought for a second that ACL was the brand, but they make bearings, not cams

oh...those are not pits it is some left over oil and lube when it was taken out. It wipes off and the lobes are smooth....it just how the camera picks it up. Yes probably a vortec truck cam....just trying to figure out the grind.

Yeah....I don't get the laser etch look. I kinda though the acl meant AC Delco....but I don't know....just hoping someone does. I would like to figure out the grind.
