Modified 1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup 3-Speed on BAT

An interesting truck.
I like the look but it's not for me.

No reserve auction.

I know I'm probably rubbing a lotta people the wrong way, but I will never understand clear coating over worn paint.
Anybody can tell it's clear coat, not fooling anyone--what's the point of that?

The "patina" "distressed" look is over-done, and generally screams "I'm too cheap to properly paint this thing".

That hood is hammered..

Flipper truck. They'll want all the money for bare minimum build. I'd never consider buying a frame shortened truck off an online auction.

The patina is not very natural looking - some human help was required - but I like it. As much as I like a beautiful paint job I also like spending my very limited funds on mechanical things. It is also nice to not be fearful of shopping carts and gravel roads.

I wouldn't buy a shortened truck online either, but I don't mind this one at all.

Guilty as charged here, but at least mine doesn't look like it went through a meteorite shower

LOL the hood isn't even Chevy, it looks like a GMC hood, look at the insignia holes.

Me too. That's why I would avoid a truck that looks like it doesn't have one decent body panel. The welds on the bed look like they were done by Dr. Frankenstein, there's rust-through at the top of the firewall, and the gutter above the windshield looks pretty suspicious.

Plenty of good short bed conversions out there but I am not impressed with the pictures of that frame welding job.

Me neither. Looks misaligned, too

What do we think this thing will go for?

I’m saying like $9,500

With 4 days left and it's already at $3333.oo I say you got a good guess.

Some of these new found truck lovers than can't see that this is a,
Throwed together Mess. May take it to $12,000.oo or more. ;) :uhmk:

What's left of the original paint is literally the best part of this truck.
Most common model produced, hacked frame, hacked, rusty body.
cab mounts are gone, floors are gone.

I think the point is to prevent further fading and rust. However, I would use flat or satin clear coat, not gloss. We also have Derek on Roadworthy Rescues who uses boiled linseed oil, which I assume leaves a shiny finish.

Yeah, you never know how well it's done. Probably would be worth more without the modification.

I could work with what's there for sure. But seeing it on BAT makes me think he wants more than it's worth. I'd buy that truck from down the road for the right price. I like the look. It's the look that says "I'm going to paint it" and that's what I'd do. I have a '71 350 & car 4spd to chuck right in there

Re: Modified 1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup 3-Speed on BAT

special-K it's selling at No Reserve, so high bidder gets it. If you look at the seller he has sold 2 other similar trucks in the past at no reserve that have gone for decent prices. Just stay out of the bidding war.

But yah, that truck is pretty beat with hail. I had a hood that looked similar and the guy painting it had me swap the hood with one of my other trucks so he didn't have to fix all the hail.

It's not that I don't think its cool, because it is cool. I just really don't like the "buyer beware" way this ad is done. I read the whole thing and there is no mention of rust issues or that it is in fact a very unfinished project.

I’m thinking it had a bug deflector at one time. Look at the extra holes towards the edge of the hood.

I'd say the comments were more objective than negative. And if you don't agree with me...:D
