Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
5 Attachment(s)
Remember those huge dents in my top lip of the tailgate, well I had my dads friend work them out and spot that top 1/3 as best he could. I had him add a little patina to it.
Was hoping he’d use black as the primer color coming through, but overall I’m very happy with how it turned out. Wasn’t cheap, but was well worth it. |

Looks great.
What exactly did he do? |
Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
looks like great work! not sure why patina would be added where there were none before, but ok. You have an amazing C10, looking forward to seeing the install and out in nature soon.

Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
Yeah, it’s done,’otherwise I would’ve said ease up on the patina. I get what you are saying. I’m just extremely happy with the outcome so I’m gonna run with it and enjoy it
They heated it up and pulled the metal, then worked it to straighten it as best they could. It was really warped front and back, so I’m sure it was a lot of work. Then I just told him to use the color code and match it in 1/3 top and to cut the paint right where the lip starts above the Chevrolet letters. |

Nice work, those dents were in the top crease which makes removal difficult. :metal:

Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
Whatever he charged you to do that quality of work, was worth it. Looks amazing compared to what he started with. Great job!

Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
Steel that thick isn't easy to work with. Also, if those dents are super old, they will be more difficult to massage out.
He did a masterful job of taking that damage out, and salvaging it. |
Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
Yep...........he did an excellent job and it was well work it for sure. That tailgate looks fantastic!!!!!

Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
Man that's depressing. Now the HOA is going to leave you alone. I guess I won't be driving south to relieve you of that troublesome truck. Maybe they'll come up with a no patina clause.

Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in
That was the right move for that truck. Nice work!

I marvel at the skill and result of a master craftsmen. This is an example of such. I had no idea something like this was possible without a patch. I think we all would enjoy a few close shots just to celibate what remarkable work we have whitnessed.

Re: Got my original paint tailgate worked on and spotted in

I'd like to blame the phone but there is a reason why my screen name is Fut and not foot. My report cards will also confirm a very poor skill set when it come to reading and writing.
Now back to the tailgate, where's them close ups :) |
