The only bodywork I plan on doing to my truck is painting around the mounting points where it had rusted and the PO had never finished.
I plan on getting new hardware for the mirrors. Looks like they're 1/4"-20 screws like this: https://www.classicindustries.com/product/g0917.html
Would it be a good idea to get a jacknut kit like this for a sturdier mount?

I like those riv-nut type setups most of the time. In this case I'd think it over for a minute, just because you'll have to drill larger holes than necessary in the door to install the nut. If you ever need to change it up you'll have larger holes to fill. Probably not a big deal but just a thought.

I don't plan on changing the mirrors once they're on so that won't be an issue.
