replacement cab corners/best supplier?
Hello all!
I acquired a truck and the PO had started to do some rust repair, they had cut out the cab corners.https://i.postimg.cc/Fs0GhXKL/IMG-0334.jpg I cant tell you how much rust there may have been there originally but the cut-out was for the entire patch panel which did not fit nicely at all, and didn't follow the contours of the cab. I know that no matter which cab corner i decide to use i will have to modify and im ok with that, im just looking for recommendations on a manufacturer from those who have been happy. Both these cab corners have been bought by me from companies that specialize in resto parts. The following pics show the major differences that i have encountered. https://i.postimg.cc/26PFf0RG/IMG-0335.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/DwZWB1Rw/IMG-0333.jpg In another post about doors someone mentioned keyparts. In visiting their website it looks like they have a well-constructed cab corner, (the bodyline in the cab corner appears to have the proper contour)! BUT they don't sell to the general public...and summit will not have availability until the end of Feb. Anyone know of a supplier that deals with KeyParts? arg! thanks for any help! (cleanest cab corner in pics fits best, but is still crap!) |
Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
Key Parts has an eBay store:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/17178143759...4AAOSwAdNixyd5 or https://www.ebay.com/itm/15156713615...AAAOSwF1BjEie1 They also sell through Jeg's |

Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
I bought mine from National Parts Depot after reading a review from this site. They both fit great but were a little more expensive.

Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
Thanks! i will check out both those out!
this is one of the things that is giving me the fits: both cab corners have this and its no-where near the contour it has to be. https://i.postimg.cc/GhCHyZH0/IMG-0336.jpg |

Try to only use as much of the patch panel as you need to replace the rust. I got a drivers side floor panel and only used about a 3x5 inch piece of it. |
Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
agreed 100%
cut out only what you need to, avoid major bodylines if you can! I got this truck this way so i have to deal with it. update on parts: NPD uses apex not Key parts, they are 18g steel, 21.8x13.3". i may give them a try if i cant source Keyparts cab corner somewhere. The ebay store will not ship to Canada. key parts from Jegs i think had a wait time of April '24 |
Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
Sorry, I didn't notice you were in Canada...
What about these guys in Canada? https://www.classicchevy.ca/key-part...ide-0849-115-l You might give Key Parts a call and see who might have them in Canada... |

Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
Gmcpauls or Cooper Restorations. I've used a handful of Keyparts cab corners. They aren't perfect either.

Re: replacement cab corners/best supplier?
Well, as mentioned no cab corners are perfect, but at this point i wouldn't even call most suppliers acceptable. Since they are cheap i got 4 different kinds of cab corners just to experiment with and i am now resorting to buying a used piece for the fit I like for the body line 1/4 way up from the bottom of the door/corner and using after-market metal for the very bottom. Because they are cheap i suppose quality suffers too. The best advice is to limit the amount you remove. Im restoring a 69 Firebird with my brother as well and parts quality is much better.

Keyparts is one of the better ones. But stay away from the top bodyline,
