Medium Olive Spray Paint

Years ago someone posted of a spray paint that closely match the Medium Olive, which may have been in a thread under the "Projects & Builds" forum but for the life of me I cannot find it. Anyone have a link to who might have OEM type colors in a spray can? I'm wanting to touch up my firewall while my engine is out, appreciate any help.

I got some in a rattle can for touch-ups on this old 71 from these guys - just gotta select year-make-truck-code 504. (obviously not a professional paint job, was just trying to get it drivable/presentable)

I can't imagine any off the shelf paint ever matching medium olive poly. That is the hardest mix to get a consistent mix using the factory code. I see it anywhere from a silver tinted green to candy apple green. Getting a spray can mixed at an autobody supply house is your best chance of getting it close

https://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp is what I used for interior touchup. I repainted my ashtray and two aircon vent covers on either side of the dash. This was a near-perfect match of TWO STAGE non-metallic Hawaiian blue 510 paint, requiring a top coat of clear.

Yeah, I had the same color mixed at the body supply place for the tool & stowage door on the '71 K/20 Highlander I had. It matched quite well. But matching metallic is a totally different game. And off the shelf color for some other vehicle? Good luck with that.

Here is a peak at the '70 Custom/10 I had with the bed repainted (po) by Maaco. The whole truck had been painted over previously

Thanks for the suggestions. I ordered some from Jocko's recommendation, I'll report back on how it matches. This is far from a show truck and will be confined to just the firewall, not as if it was being compared to a body panel in direct sunlight, so if it's remotely close it should work great.

Re: Medium Olive Spray Paint

Areas not exposed to the sun for decades (like your firewall) should be a pretty close match. Good luck and would love to see some pics when you're done.

That factory pack mix will be correct and, as Jocko said, on the unexposed to sunlight firewall even better. That's in advance for following up. A thing we need to see more of here.

Jocko,
I just went to the link you have in your post.
For 1970, they don’t have 504 Medium Olive listed as an option.
However, I checked both 69 and 71, and they list 504, though both years have the 504 code listed by different names.

Re: Medium Olive Spray Paint

Can't speak for their website, but 504 was available 69-72 and marketed under various names (between the brochures and SPID), such as willow green, yellow-green, and medium olive - the latter being the most common SPID nomenclature.

I saw that too. 504 is the same under different names, so unless they've somehow magically calculated the fade year-over-year they ought to be the same

Was this it? Alien II Pearl AE2

Edit* Looks like this color isn't available for any of the off the shelf DupliColor type products, it's a custom mix. At that point, might as well get the GM 504.

I have tryed to get GM504 formula for "modern paints" without any luck.

Paint shops dont regonice "GM504" at all.

I had these bookmarked. You might have better luck with the cross-referenced paint codes

https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintde...Medium%20Olive

https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorco...0Olive&rows=50

There are many posts to read about what a PITA it can be to get a match, even with a custom scan on the glovebox lid, and apparently even more so in 2-stage
