WTB Good HEI core

Looking for a solid HEI core to rebuild and use. Doesn't have to have a cap, rotor, or module. Will buy and/or swap for other parts. Thanks.

Thanks Nick that looks promising. Are you able to read the part number and date code on the body for me? Something like this pick but from a points distributor:

Can you tell me where the part number is? I can’t find one. It’s definitely a factory gm hei I just don’t see a part number

Sorry for the hassle. It should be stamped on the side of the aluminum housing at or near the level of the module and hidden by the cap. If you pop the cap off and look along the side it should be visible. Similar location to that for the points distributor. Thanks for the help.

EDIT - added HEI example

Re: WTB Good HEI core

If you are disassembling any old HEI, a new old stock Delco pickup coil, or pole piece as GM calls them is necessary. Those small wires work harden and break internally due to the back and forth motion caused by the vacuum advance, causing intermittent performance issues or outright failure. Also use a NOS Delco module and use the special heat dissipating grease on the bottom of the module. 1975 Chevy 350 pole piece is 1875981 D1907. The module is 1875990.

Thanks for good info. I did source a NORS Standard pickup coil and have a store of USA made Echlin modules. I could use that module and will scrounge for one. The new HEI in the Blazer has been chronically problematic with warm starting. If I replace it with another HEI I want that to be solid since is just such a pita to get way back in there.
