Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck

Bob owns a local body shop and towing company. I told him when he got ready that I would help him with his wiring. Truck has a new crate LS with a 4l80e transmission, Dakota Digital gauges and a lot of other goodies. Sorry about the bad pictures but he had it up on the hoist so he could get the rollback into the building. We are working on it in the evenings and weekends. . |
Re: Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck
Looks like he's done a little work on that truck. A Hot Truck from ground up. Have fun with the wiring. I'm sure you'll do a neat and tidy job ;)

Re: Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck
Good looking truck. Is that an aftermarket frame or stock frame with bolt on suspension?
|
Re: Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck
That will be nice when done. I like the old pro street look.

Careful not to let those unterminated wires hang when you send it up on the hoist or the electrons will run out

I really like the frame color, very different, love the color itself.

Thanks, I will post more pictures of it tomorrow when it is down on the floor. |
Re: Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck
That's real cool Doc, and what a great project. If I ever built another Chevy I'd mod something up. 1/99 that ever happens though. Powder blue frame, wow. I wonder what the going rate for that is these days.
What you figure is invested in suspension? |

Looks like a great project.
I like hide every wire I can. LS swaps can have lots of wires. What are you using for a chassis harness? I like Painless. Pic of a couple of LS swaps that 99% of the wires can't be seen. |

Just a note but here's another pic on how the Nova looked when I bought it from the owner that got in way over his head.

Oh man...it's chopped. This will certainly be a very nice build once complete. Hopefully you'll be able to show us the end result! -Kevin |

Re: Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck
I haven't asked about the suspension but he mentioned that he has around 20k invested in it so far.
I see $4K+ in the differential alone. Building a truck is crazy expensive. |

Yeah the Nova was a mess. Fuel pump wired direct. No relay or fuse. Trans was bolted in with a piece 1" tubing with 5/16" bolts. I tried to start it before buying but wires started to get hot.
But it was a non-hit rust free AZ 67 Nova SS. Before and after pics |

We are still working on it some evenings and weekends. I went down the other night and wired the cooling fans and NSS/backup light switches. Another friend of ours is building a custom console for it right now. When it comes back we will wire up the Dakota Digital Dash and that will be about it for the wiring. . |
Re: Helping a friend of mine with the wiring on his truck
Keep the pics coming. Always cool to see the custom builds.
