What was the donor for the 465? You are going to have to modify the opening for the bearing retainer on the bellhousing to fit the 465 to it along with figuring out what driveshaft setup you need.
The OD of the SM 420 bearing retainer is 4-11/16 While the SM 465 bearing retainer is 5-1/8 diameter. There are three versions of the SM 465 so you need to know what year donor it came out of. Some info here.https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledg.../manual/sm465/ The 35 spline output shaft isn't for and doesn't work with a slip yoke as far as I know. You use the yoke held in with the nut on the output shaft similar to the one in this image that normally doesn't get removed from the transmission unless you change the rear seal. |
Re: Driveshaft & Yoke
I think what mr48 is saying is that it depends on what you have. by the sound of it I would say your driveline has been altered already, since it is an open rear end. if you have the trans with the attached rear yoke then you will need to install a short shaft behind that which would then attach to another shaft that is held with a steady bearing and then the rear shaft would have a slip yoke on it to accomodate the movement of the rear suspension and the shortening and lengthening of the distance between the rear axle yoke and the slip yoke at the steady bearing end.
some info on what exactly you have for a driveline would help. pics can say a thousand words. |
