Replacement leaf spring bushings quesiton

Afternoon,

I have a new to me set of leaf springs to go on my '79 C10. They're in pretty darn good shape, at least compared to my current set. I figured "while I was there" I would replace all the bushings before installing the new springs.

I just took a look at my replacement bushings, and they all have a shoulder on one side where the original ones do not. I'm guessing they're fine, and the replacements have the shoulders for easier alignment but I figured I would ask before I got started.

Thanks,

K

Generally I have found the rubber bushings have an inner and outer steel sleeve “vulcanized” to the rubber. Essentially a one pc bushing. These have had no shoulders. Just a steel sleeve at the correct width.

Many of the urethane bushings are three pieces. Two urethane PCs half the spring width with a steel sleeve full width through the center.

If yours are the urethane ones, be sure to use plenty of silicone lube when assembling to keep the squeaking to a minimum.

That's the thing, these are the traditional rubber/steel type. They have a rolled shoulder on one side.

I need to get one of the old ones out so I can compare closely.
