Steering Center Link Rebuild?
 

Ive been searching for some info that I cannot seem to find about possibly rebuilding my 1970 k10 center link. It's one piece and looks pretty solid and it's been working this long, but the ends have some play.
Ive seen the "replace with Moog adjustable steering drag link" comments and I am not opposed but I do like the idea of reconditioning this part in a world where we are quick to throw things away. I have seen this is a non wearable item etc etc but these rod ends have the ability to be replaced I just need to know how from someone who has done it. Thanks

You are using 2 terms to describe the same component. Center link (tie rod) and drag link are 2 separate parts.

Referring to your picture, the drag link is the short "link" connecting the pitman arm (attached to the steering gear) to the freshly painted steering arm.. Your particular drag link is not repairable.

The center link, more commonly referred to as "tie rod", is the long rod running between the two steering knuckles.

Agree with previous post what are you wanting to replace? The tie rod ends or drag link ends? Drag link ends are not replaceable, it is one piece.

GM went with a 3 piece for a reason. Mostly for a finer tuned adjustment to get the steering box more centered. They only had the 1 piece for (I think) 2-3 years.

Copy that guys. I think maybe just replace with the Moog adjustable drag link.

Have never had a truck with the one piece early style drag link. Recall a post or two about the 3 piece being slightly longer than the earlier one. You may have to trim a bit off of the threads on each ball joint end to shorten it a bit.
