V8 engine mounts for a 62 c10

Attachment 2382991I just did the 78 crossmember swap with CPP spindles and I’m looking for the correct engine mounts that will fit. My friend gave me a set of CPP engine mounts but they don’t seem to fit right. Seemed a little tall. I’m doing the research to see what’s the best fit and what I need to use. I’m still running the grand bell housing crossmember with a 62 V8 bell housing. Attachment 2382991

I have 64 X member in my 62 and I used the 67 - 72 motor mounts. They bolted to the frame without the spacer on top of the frame. I tried the tube type of mounts and they sat too high and they also needed a spacer on top of the frame.

That’s what I needed. Where did you get them? Did you move your steering gear box forward? My drag link is real close and high on the x member. When I installed the x member the front two holes lined up so I went with that. How was your install?

It has been a while since I bought them. I think I got them from Brothers (not positive). I used the steering box from a late 70's C10 and captain fabs mounting bracket. I have plenty of clearance for the steering components.

I have the engine mocked up with the 67-72 stock mounts. It seems to fit fine except I need to 1 in spacers I between the top of the mount and the frame. Once the ends are 45 and welded it should look fine. As you can see I also have plenty of clearance under the balancer.

Doesn’t have any room for a stock style HEI. I got a ready to run billet HEI that has the vintage look.

Have you tried switching the mounts right to left and left to right to see if they settle down to where you don't need that 1" spacer on the frame?

On my 61 I swapped in a square body front and used the stock mounts and just cut them down and welded a plate on top.

I did something similar on my '60. '73-'87 engine perches with clamshells. I used these for both by SBC and the LS engine setups in my Apache.

Did you cut from the top or bottom?

I just cut the top even with the top of the frame

I figured that’s what you did. Thanks for the information.

They are in! I cut about 7/8 in out of the top and welded the top plate to the mount. A lot of work for something that should be already on the market. Thanks for all the help!
