1962 250 Install Help

Alright guys, I’m back with another question. Last time I was here I asked about removing the TH350 trans out of my ‘62 truck in order to rebuild it. I ended pulling the motor and trans as a whole. The engine that is currently in it is a Blueprint 383 Stroker motor. I exchanged some landscaping work and rebuilding a wood privacy fence for a good running 250 inline. Call me crazy, but I want to install the 250 and sell the 383. The 250 will be better for just driving around town, and I have no use for the 383 since I’m not going to be drag racing or nothin.

So, here’s my question:
What motor mounts do I need in order to make the 250 install work? Does anyone have a link to someone that makes them? I know the trucks with manual trans had the front U-shaped motor mount. From what I’ve read the side motor mounts for an automatic trans is rare? I think I read that 67 side mounts fit the 62 frame…albeit you have to drill new holes?

How was the 383 mounted? If it used side mounts, you should be able to use the same for the 250, you'll just need the intermediate piece between the block and the frame stand.

A V8 has different motor mount brackets. I'd say swapping to a 6 cylinder isn't a great idea.

It wasn’t a v8 originally. It was swapped to the 383 from an inline 6. I just need to know what brackets I need for the 250.

Sounds like you're looking for these... https://www.autozone.com/external-en...t=engine+mount

As I recall, needed just 2, but I could be wrong. BTW, I enjoy my 6 cylinder, even with its 13mpg. And nobody has them, so it's kinda unique. Don't know what you have, but a 10SI alternator upgrade is nice and so is a HEI distributor.

Depending on how your 383 was mounted, you might not need to change anything. Please post a picture of what you have so we can positively identify what you have and what you will need.

OP is probably refering to the brackets needed from block to engine mount. Depending which frame perches is currently holding the v8.
Some pics will tell what is there and what needed.

Adriaan.
