Sounds like a Lifter but it’s not

Listened to a conversation at last nights Car Show about Injectors and Coils making noise that sounds like a Lifter.
Anyone ever heard of Or experienced this

I have heard an injector tick before and it does sound similar to a lifter, but more faint. Never heard a coil pack make that noise though.

Maybe a coil pack if it was leaking to ground?

What engine transmission combination are we talking about?

My LS injectors made sounds you swear were from a collapsed lifter. They were aftermarket performance injectors though. I have never heard of a factory injector making that much noise.

I believe the guy had just done an LS Swap in his 72 Step. Don’t know the Engine size or Trans

LS engines as a whole are notorious for the “type writer” valve train sound. It’s just what they do. I’ve heard loud injectors before but not coils.

That's what I was thinking. I have heard a number of bad coils on Ford trucks making a snapping noise.

Lots of Good Input. Don’t see the Coil issue but the Injector issue is interesting. Would like to hear more from anyone who might of had this problem

Maybe related, maybe not.
My 350 V8 had an odd ticking noise thinking the lifters needed adjustment.
An exhaust leak from on the passenger side rams horn was the culprit.
Turns out the restoration shop from hell struck again.
Went to tighten things up when the very first forward bolt was loose and broken
It was glued back in with blue RTV glue thinking no one would notice.
The crack (on crack) mechanics struck again.
Just one of many gremlins I have been chasing the last few years.

My 2014 Silverado had a ticking noise I found to be a loose spark plug wire. The plug wire was just barely hanging on to the coil. I pushed it back on, years ago and many miles, no issues since related to that.

.

My former daily driver had an inline six. The engine cover incorporated a very thick sound insulation pad that sat directly above the injectors and coils. Without the cover, it sounded like all the lifters might have been ticking.
