largest tire I can put on a 16 x 6 rim and still fit my truck?
Since I have decided ( thanks again to mr48chev ) that the limited options for WW tires make them not worth it for me , my question now is:
What are the largest set of BW tires can I stuff under my 55.1 AD 1/2 ton on 16" x 6" rims? I'll be wearing "Wheel Smith's Smoothies" and want a cool of look as I can achieve! 215/70/R16 is what I am currently looking at. Of course quite, long mileage, great handling is all important! All thoughts welcomed and very much appreciated :) |

I'd play with the tire size comparison chart a bit.
I think I posted it before but here it is again and it lets you compare sizes and see widths and diameters. https://tiresize.com/comparison/ The stock 600-16 tire for that truck runs 28.30 in diameter. A 225-70-16 is 28.40 in diameter. That is as wide a tire as you would want on a 6 inch rim. If the trans and rear end are original to the truck that would keep the speedometer pretty close to right. |

That calculator page is real handy. One thing I like is that it tells you how much changing tire size will throw your speedometer off.
Remembering that back in the day one of my buddies had a 55 Chevy that he put 800 15 tires on the back of for the "gasser" look He had it figured out how far the speedometer was off at what speed but let his girl friend drive it to go shopping one day and she got a ticket for speeding because she was running down the highway with the speedometer on the exact speed that the limit was but was doing 10 over. He ended up going to court with her with the calculations that showed that she was driving at what she thought was the legal speed limit but the car was going faster and got her out of the ticket. Last time I rode in the car he had a note taped to the dash that showed what you wanted the speedo to read to be legal at a set speed such as 22 = 25 and 50 = 60. |
