Is this a speed warning?
3 Attachment(s)
Was wondering what this was? It looks different from the other speed warning speedometers I have seen. Possibly off of a larger truck? It was on a 3/4 ton GMC.

Re: Is this a speed warning?
Not speed warning. Looks like someone put in a vacuum gauge.

Re: Is this a speed warning?
Thats kind of what I thought but the gauge fits into the bezel with what looks like a twist on lens that was missing. The bezel looks to be stock but is different than any other that I have seen. The speedometer has that smaller speedometer within itself which I have never seen before either.

Here's a picture in the link below of the factory setup.

Looked at your pic again. I have no idea what the one is at bottom of speedo.

Re: Is this a speed warning?
Looks like some aftermarket gauges someone added... Not factory on either.

Re: Is this a speed warning?
My 68 GMC had the speed warning but no gauges. I have not heard or seen that before has anyone else? Jim

I'm guessing those gauges spent some time abroad and that's a km/hr conversion (1 mph ~ 1.6 km/hr).

Re: Is this a speed warning?
Tomorrow I will check on what's up with the speedometer. What makes me think this is a stock item is that on the vacuum gauge the bezel has a raised ridged cast in it that the vacuum gauge actually fits in. Then it looks like a removable lens "missing" that goes over the top of it. unless the whole bezel is aftermarket that was sold with the vacuum gauge as a kit.

Re: Is this a speed warning?
Maybe it's out of a big truck. I'm pretty sure GM used those dashes through the mid 70's or later. You might try posting it in the Heavy Haulers section. Maybe one of the truck experts know what you have.

Well I took it apart and as far as I can tell the bezel was drilled out and the vacuum unit was added and glued in. It looks like this may have been a stand alone unit that was Intergrated into the bezel. It was done very well and almost looks like it could have been a factory piece. As far as the speedometer no idea. No needle inside or hooked to anything. But it does go to 55 then changes color on the sweep.
