Delco G1852 temp sending unit?
1 Attachment(s)
I am looking for information about the AC Delco temp sending unit G1852 - GM 12334869.
Several yars ago I read a discussion about how an aftermarket sending unit was some way better than what GM was selling. Does anyone remember that discussion? |
Re: Delco G1852 temp sending unit?
Guess I will order a G1852 from RockAuto and see what they send.

Re: Delco G1852 temp sending unit?
A sending unit like this is just a variable resistance based on water temp. The gauge in the cluster senses that resistance and changes the needle position accordingly. FWIW, I've never found the temps to be super accurate on these 80's electronic gauges. I recently ordered the same sender from Rock Auto, and my gauge still reads way off.
So be prepared to be disappointed if your gauge still reads incorrectly. I do understand its not always appealing to mount a mechanical gauge in the cab though. |

Slammed84 where did your G1852 from Rockauto say it was made?

I have seen studies where the writer purchased ten of the senders from all different manufactures. Some were bad, others pathetic. I believe the AC-Delco is still your best bet.

Re: Delco G1852 temp sending unit?
I have both the Delco G1852 and the Lectric Limited which is advertised as having the correct resistance. I'm going to measure the temp in boiled water and resistance in each sender before installing.
https://www.lectriclimited.com/produ...ding-unit-116/ For Truck Years: 1974 - 1978 The Temp Gauge Needle Should Point to: Left Line (Cold) when sender resistance = 350 Ω Middle Line when sender resistance = 68 Ω Right Line (Hot) when sender resistance = 46 Ω |
Re: Delco G1852 temp sending unit?
I just went through this and initially I Purchased and installed the AC Delco G1852 and it sent my gauge to the RED and back and forth. I laser temped it and the sensor was actually way off. I Was not going to buy the OE part number 01513321 for over a $100, so I instead went to a parts house other than A-Zone or the such and found that they routinely sell the Standard Motor Products part number TS6 with no customer return or dissatisfaction issues and I have had zero issues since.
