Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
The Tesla looks like a high school shop project. Of all the Tesla vehicles, this is one that probably won't sell very well. Certainly not when you compare it to a nice-looking Rivian pickup, or even an F150 Lightning EV.

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
I agree, it's ugly.
I will never purchase a car/truck that I could have designed. I am an EV fan, however. I routinely drive 235-miles one way. $5 to get there and $1.80 to get home. Electricity is less inexpensive there. That's less than a penny and a half, per mile, average. |
Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
I’ll gladly pay the extra money in gas to drive something that has a soul.

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
Rivian is a credible offroad vehicle, and the SUV version looks really nice.

We may have an EV in our future. It would work great for 75% of my wife's driving, but currently her car is the one we take on road trips, typically in the southwest, where charging stations are few and far between. In fact, EVs on the highways we travel are almost non-existent except when we're close to towns. |

My daughter has a Tesla Model 3 Performance and her bill only went up like $5.00 a month. She commutes about 40 miles per day. |
Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
Idk why anyone tries to justify an EV with their savings in fuel. When you factor in the price difference of an EV compared to an economy car, how much money are you really saving? Are you saving money at all? Sorry but these teslas are hideous. Idc what your mileage is. I wouldn’t have it if you gave it to me.

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
I have other cars "with soul".
My Love my LS1 C10 has 354hp at the wheels buy my EV is faster, much faster. Love them both. My maintenance for the first year, on the EV, was $20 to fix a flat. Next year, the manufacture suggests I replace the cabin air filter. I have done the math. After about 40 or 50K the costs are even and go down after that. My EV never needs a transmission repair, oil change or new O2 sensors. I just had the oil changed on my Tahoe, at the dealer. Came back with a recommended $2400 in sales pitch stuff. One of the biggest advantages it not having to put up with that BS. I do most my driving in the area, like most people. A trip to the store is like eight cents. MySons68C20 nailed it, Wenatchee area. jessemthompson: Yes, the Cyber Trucks are hideous. I get economy mileage without the Economy Box feeling and performance. |
Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
I say EV’s are cool although not for me, they have there place for some. Not the majority. Without the innovation we would be a stagnant place of existence.

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
Many EV owners have forgotten that in 2025 you all will be start paying back into the highway road tax. It will be interesting to see how fast these vehicles are sold.

Wow not a word about towing capability ?

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
We got free charging at work. A friend of mine drove an electric Fiat 500 and what he saved in gas more than covered the lease ;-)

I would not recommend an EV if you can't charge at home. I would not recommend an EV if you live where it gets below 0. I do pay a higher registration fee for an EV. I guess I only want others to know how crazy efficient they are. |
Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
Yep! that Tesla truck is ugly!
But I'm seeing more and more of them on the road these days, unfortunately. |
Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
What strikes me as funny is that Teslas are built at the same Fremont plant where my '68 C/10 Stepside and '67 K/10 Suburban were built.

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
My electric rate is .098 per KWH . Plus a delivery charge that usually averages higher than the cost of the power and goes up the more we use . I have nothing against EVs but I doubt I’ll ever own one . Specially that ugly “truck”

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
all I know is that the Tesla owners can't drive worth a sh*t.....at least not here in NJ.

Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
I drive my '69 1500 to work on the daily.
One of my work buddies just bought a cyber truck. another one just got a military surplus diesel humvee for some reason. Parked all next to each other in the work parking lot, it makes for a pretty good photo among in a sea of shiny RAM 2500s. I put solar panels on our house a couple years ago, so whenever my wife needs a new car, I'll buy an EV so I can power it for free, which I would love. But my commute is 3 miles a day, and I like driving this old truck, so I'm going to just keep on enjoying my good ol' gettin-around truck for my daily ride. It still just costs me one tank of gas every few weeks at that rate. Lots of options out there and you gotta just do what works for you, and hopefully enjoy it! |
Re: Tesla vs Chevrolet
