WTB:Chevrolet Inline 6 engines and or engine parts
 

Hello looking for Chevrolet inline 6 engines and or engine parts in the northwest Oregon area. Complete engines, heads manifolds or any related parts for chevy 230, 250, 292 engines. I may consider older 235 stuff as well if the deal is right.
I am looking for bargains, but may be willing to pay $400-500 for running engines maybe more depending on condition etc. Totally interested in none running rebuildable blocks as well Let me know what you got!:chevy:

I have a complete, running 250. Only catch is I'm in VA. If you knew of a reasonable way to ship i have no problem putting it on a crate.

Yeah Im looking for more local, but I would have to look in to what it shipping would cost for something like this. I will certainly keep it in mind

I know this post is old but you are welcome to my old 292 outta my 66. Did run but was low on compression. $100 bucks is what I'm asking. Complete minus manifolds.

Don't know when I'll be able to make it down that way I got a lot going on but definitely will let you know when I can.
Trying to stock up a few inline parts and looking for some more engines to have around for parts or to build and put in future projects.

Sounds good man! I've had it posted on facebook marketplace for awhile but haven't had any takers. These old 6 bangers aren't very popular anymore that's for sure.

Just wanted to bump this to the top again still looking for engines and parts local is preferable but willing to pay shipping for small parts (carburetors etc )

Have access to a 292 IL6, rusted up tight boat anchor but may have some pieces you could use. Have to look and see just what there is left. Carb and breather are gone but has been tarped since that time.

Went to look at the 292 this afternoon and seems it does have the cast aluminum T-stat housing still attached. Scrubbed off some grime and looks as if PN 3789162 on edge of cast aluminum t-stat housing? Beneath that is another piece, looks to be cast iron with a steel nipple on one side and water inlet cast into the body on opposite side? Not very familiar with the IL6 292. Engine seems complete but very rusty and crusty outside. As mentioned most likely a boat anchor. Shot some PB Rust Blaster on the housing and lower cast section. Will let it set for a day or two before try removing it. Hate snapped bolts! :chevy:

Does this sound like what your looking for? Didn't have my cell phone with me at the time to take any pics. Will try and get some pics next time I stop by his house.

Went to look this morning and was able to remove the T-stat housing with no problem. PB Rust Blaster works again. Just loaded a few pics from my cell phone to the computer moments ago. Here they are below. The aluminum water neck has a small owie at the opening but with a good hose and clamp I see no reason why I wouldn't use it as is. Chased all the threads with a tap and die to clean out the rust and crud. All is good there. :chevy:

Very faint part number which is hard to read "looks" like 3880856 but very faint even after a wire brush scrubbing. Let me know if this is what your looking for.

stright6chevyguy, added one last pic I forgot the first go around. Showing the back side of the lower T-stat housing. No cracks, chips, etc. Let me know if this is what your looking for. :chevy:

Yes it looks like it, I should have mentioned before that it is the lower housing that is of most interest to me. The second larger hose port/nipple on the housing is specifically 292 only as they have an extra hose between the thermostat housing and the water pump I need to educate myself as to exactly why this is but I assume it has something to do with better cooling or something.

I have a 250 that ran when removed. Missing exhaust manifold, t-stat hsg, some other small items. Has flywheel and clutch. It’s in Northeast Indiana. I’d like to get $100 for it. PM if interested.
