`99 s10 Blazer door pins
T`ve got a 99 s10 Blazer with about 230,000 miles on it. Still runs good. But, I`ve had the drivers door pins replaced 2 times or maybe 3. I need it done again. Any idea how many times I can get by with this before it`s hopeless. I hate to give up on the old girl. My usual body shop wouldn`t fool with it last time but my mechanic fixed it. Anyone else have this much trouble with door pins ?

Re: `99 s10 Blazer door pins
I have no second generation experience but on my first generation Blazers it's been necessary to replace them in the 175k to 220k range. I've never had to do one a second time.
Are you replacing the pins with the factory plastic bushings or the aftermarket bronze bushings? Putting a drop of oil on each bushing every oil change helps keep them from wearing. |
Re: `99 s10 Blazer door pins
I let my mechanic do the work. I`m sure he`s using metal bushings. I think the grease and or WD40 I put on isin`t getting to the right spot. He`s trying again Wednesday and if successful I am going to squirt 10w30 on twice a week from now on. Thanks
