Ashtray assembly

I am looking for a complete ashtray assembly for my 55 Cameo. I'm putting the Vintage Air heat switch in it if I can find one. Here is a picture of what I'm doing, sorry, you'll have to click the link as I'm having "picture posting problems" right now. https://flic.kr/p/2qrSXwM

I need the complete assembly to put it where the old heater control goes.
Thanks.

Are you sure you aren't looking for a heater delete plate? Heaters were still optional in TF trucks although probably less got sold without one than AD trucks did.

This one is too rich for my blood https://www.ebay.com/itm/166167528919

This one is junk https://www.ebay.com/itm/27585578832...IAAOSwbPtkZG~G

Re: Ashtray assembly

Mr48, I put one of the AC controls in the ashtray in the stock location. I like the "hidden" aspect of that.

Now I need to put in one more controller and I wanted to put it in the heater spot by converting it to the same flip out as the stock ashtray. That's why I was looking for a complete ashtray assembly.

If I can't find that I'll go with the heater delete and put that last controller in the glove box.

Thanks for the two you sent. The one is too expensive, but if I had to rebuild the other one, it might work.

Neat idea. Are you needing just the ash tray or that and the surrounding area it pivots on too? I imagine there's someone around that's smoothing out their dash that cut this out and would have that available. Hopefully your fingers will fit down in there!

57, thanks, and with the switch placed pretty high as shown, the fingers work fine.

It is a Chevy.

Thanks for helping clarify that.

I went looking for an ash tray on that side thinking that I might find one. No luck for right hand ash trays and I'd highly suggest trial fitting one before I spent the coin to buy one and the hardware to attach it.

Re: Ashtray assembly

I did test fit the ashtray I have. The openings are almost identical in size once the heater side "flange" is bent back like the ashtray side. That's why I was looking for a complete bracket cut out of the dash. I started working on a template to build one, and while I'd still like an original bracket, I'm not having much luck.

Luckily, I have the rod it hangs on from one of the old AD dash's that was all beat up. That will be a help.

I was trying to build the dash bracket, and I found one the guy was willing to cut out for me. I'll post pics once I get it installed.

Cool let us know how you came out on that.

I think I might be able to tuck a plug in to the "fake" tissue container that I bought to hold my head unit for my sound system over to the side. As I said before that tissue box looking thing is an ode to my maternal grandmother who had one in each of her cars that I can remember.
