61 gmc 3000 ?????

So i posted over on the 60-66 gmc forum but I want to post here as well. I purchased a 61 gmc 3000. Really strange vehicle that has had some things done to it thru the years. The cab is really bad but I have another cab. The rear is shot but I want to put an 8 lug under it anyway. Whats odd is its a 10 lug rear and 8 lug front. Im sure someone changed that at some point. Ill try to post some pics too.
My Question is the 8 lug front is not setup for "dually" wheels. Is there a spacer I could use or another set of hubs? Or should I swap the torsion bar for the 72-87 front crossmember. I have an engine and trans I just need to get the rear end and front suspension/brakes sorted. Thankshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...275d36c6f4.jpg

My plan for this truck is a flatbed farm truck. Gonna pull my tractors and hay to and from the field

Re: 61 gmc 3000 ?????

I've got a 62 c30 and I had a 82 one ton front I was going to swap in. The torsion bar front on the one tons are almost impossible to find parts for, or at least a reasonable price. I did swap in a 14 bolt from the same truck and it did bolt right in. I can't remember but I think there is a spacer for the dually front wheels. I'll have to look at my truck but it's not here at the moment.

3000 series is equivalent to the Chevy C 40 series. `5 lug front 10 lug rear. Low production series. IMO, you might want to re consider this project and look for a more common C 30. If you have a local wrecking yard with a '62-'69 Chevy C 30 for a complete rear axle and front hubs and wheels at a reasonable price, that may be another story.
