Horn headaches.
 

So I've got a customers truck here where a simple fix has turned into a back and forth for 3 months now. Had the typical rotted out mismatched wheel and an inop horn. Contact assy and button missing. Somebody wired in a button under the dash (yeah that's convenient) Anyways she ordered a wheel from Classic industries that was not working correctly with the splines and not machined right where the horn makes contact and did not order the contact pieces and button. Go through all the return procedures and I order everything from LMC (yeah I know, not doing that again). Wheel fits but the contact assy concave spring is so frigg'n strong I can stand on it and it won't flex, let alone let a plastic button do its job. Talking to them is going nowhere with getting a phone service that a bunch of old ladies that hoave no idea at all how any of this stuff works. They just pass the ball down the line. Where can I get a correct contact kit that works? Yeah I know--long winded

Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake by ordering new internals for my truck. Haven't installed them yet. Here's a possibility:

Hey Kwmech, just came across your thread here after taking your phone call earlier today, here are a few pictures of the upper steering wheel horn contact parts that I was describing while on the phone. We have the early style "taller' 60-68 GM NOS metal horn cap receiver cups, the GM NOS cup mount insulator bushings and the GM NOS cup pivot-belleville springs on hand ready to ship, we have the later style "shorter" 69-72 metal horn cap cup/receiver available in clean OE used. Also for any of your future service/shop needs, we have the below linked steering column parts board f/s thread setup up for any GM NOS, New Repro or OE Used column replacement parts request. So it's a 71 GMC and I need it all x'cept the plastic horncap itself. Spring plate, insulator, screws if you have them and the cup (3/4'') PM me with an amount. I can send via paypal.. Thanks Mel

Wow! Not just parts from Classic Bowties, but expertise. I don't need anything now, but will certainly add you to my vendors list.
