Starting the tear down and rebuild on my 71.
2 Attachment(s)
Hey all. New guy here. Recently bought my first c10 in august. This post is more so leaning and aimed towards rear chassis work. I pulled the bed off my truck, to really get a good look at what I’m working with. The history of this truck, is beyond me. Don’t really know how and when it got to this point. But now I’m getting ready to really get this thing right, and suit my wants.
Truck was originally a c20 long bed. Shortened the absolute wrong way, where it was cut under the cab, and just welded back together, zero support inside the frame. So that’s getting plated on the inside. It’s a leaf spring truck. I have an idea in my head of how I want to lower the rear of this truck, and I want to hear more advice/opinions. C notch Axle flip Rear shock relocate Just having a hard time shopping parts. I really want to start fresh on all parts (leafs, shackles, etc) just not 100% sure on what to order. I’ll slap some pics in here, and go from there. Hoping for some good input, as facebook is dead to me LOL |

Welcome aboard! I will say we need more information on what your plans are to properly advise you.
To start with how low are you wanting to go? |

I want the wheel in the wheel well. If that makes sense lol. Basically, about as low as I can go, without air. Here’s how it sat with the bed on. IMO, it was way too high, and it rode like garbage. |

Here's a flip for you. And judging from the photo you need to lower the truck 4 inches in the rear?
Did you happen to measure how high the frame rails were before you removed the box? That would help with planning your next moves. |

Id say yeah. 4 inches. And whatever I need to match the front, coils/spindles. But my main focus for now is the rear. But the more and more I look into it, I think the ease of installing the qa1 kit with the trailing arms and everything else needed. I think it just might be easier than to guesstimate with what I have
