The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network - AR 1931 half-ton Chevrolet Independence

A barn find that's been in storage since 1965. It's in excellent shape considering the age (93 years). I have had her for a little over 4 years and have done a few things, got it running. I originally thought it was a 216 babbitt motor but have found out it's the original 194 cu.in. stovebolt 6-cylinder. It runs pretty smooth after plugs and wires were replaced. There is a cable system from the ignition to the distributor that is faulty and will either have to be rebuilt or bypassed with a later model ignition switch. Also replaced the bed boards with aged oak and used the original strips, Looks good and period correct. I also purchased the b-pillar striker wooden pieces from a company in S. Carolina that specializes in reproduction wood for Chevrolets, though I didn't install them. The rest of the wood is in decent enough shape but are straight cut pieces and all the originals will make great patterns.

The cab is what is called a Ranch Cab (taller cab) so you can wear your cowboy hat to town. This truck is as original as they come, even the dirt is 90 years old.
My thought was to put a hopped up 235 twin carb and a turbo 350 using an adapter kit but I just couldn't bring myself to alter this nice old truck.
