Rear sill plate?

I don’t have a Burb or panel anymore so I have no way of figuring this out. Going through sill plates and have one long one, seems a little short but maybe this is rear sill plate?

Yes that is a rear sill plate. they are short because they only go up to the well for the spare tire.

The indented edge, goes to the back where there is a dip to allow for clearance for latches and doors if it is a barn door truck.

Cool, now I know this! Does anyone know how it is installed? Does it screw into the wood or the steel?

My 67 didn't have one but it had the rubber mat and carpeting, neither of which I believe came with the truck when it was new. I found what I believed to be a rear sill plate in the back of a Burban at the wrecking yard years ago but never installed it. It seemed a bit short to me.

It's short because it doesn't go past the well for the spare.

Mine is screwed into the metal. My rubber mat was held down at the back edge of if I remember correctly but I removed it due to it falling apart. Mine is screwd down into the metal, if you want any measurements let me know.

My truck originally didn't have one as my truck was completely bare from factory from the doors back. Don't even remember where i found the one i have. But do remember getting it rechromed with the sills from the other three doors.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm not sure ìf I will install the one I have. It's pretty crusty. But now I know for sure where it goes and what it looks like maybe I'll get lucky and find a nicer one.

Im thinking about soaking mine in Evaporust. Im curious how it will come out. I have a couple of buddies with burbs I might give it to one of them if it looks OK.

When I got mine it had surface rust but still in good shape. Rechrome shop made it look better than new.

I never knew these existed. What years was that available?

I would think all the way back to 67. Mine came off a 69.
