Van/RV Tilt column floor shift conversion sleeve

Van tilt column floor shift conversion bowl/sleeve. Use a regular non key van/RV tilt column by trimming the shift arm at the bottom of the tube and swap on this sleeve. You could use a real 67-72 column shift tilt as well if you are brave. You will also need to fill the oval light bulb hole and screw holes in the upper sleeve where the PRNDL indicator was. This is something that took me a long time to come up with. It involved 3D scanning, 3D cad modelling and many many versions of the print in different materials to refine the part and its dimensions. They are 3D printed in carbon fiber filled nylon like the parts you see on car customizers TV programs. Very strong and very stiff. The pictures show it in as printed and primed versions ready to sand and paint. It fits the stock shift tube nicely and the stock snap ring retains it. I'll sell them in the as printed state for $100.00 Canadian / $70.00 US which will get you into a genuine GM quality floor shift tilt at a fraction of the price of an inferior aftermarket unit. Please see updated US tariff pricing below. Please note the picture with the tube is just to demonstrate that it fits onto the top of the tube just like the original.

You will have to fully disassemble your van column to put truck rubbers on it. This just replaces the stock bowl/sleeve when it goes back together.

*****Be advised that I will be required to pay up front a 26 dollar tariff prior to shipping. Typical tariff and shipping to the US is about 40 dollars. I'll ship a typical order for about $90 US freight and tariff included as long as freight does not exceed $20.00 Canadian.I'll eat some of this but can't absorb it all.*******

If you refurbish and sell columns and want to buy a quantity please PM me.

Are you saying this is all it takes to convert a column shift tilt to a color shift tilt?

Re: Van/RV Tilt column floor shift conversion sleeve

You have to take a van column apart to put the truck rubber parts on it. When apart trim the shift arm off of the engine bay end of the silver inner shift tube if you want it gone. Install my sleeve sanded, prepped and painted as you please and then fill the light bulb and screw holes on the top sleeve where the PRNDL was. Just carefully weld or solder in a small patch, fill and paint. Done. My sleeve replaces the part where the lever and pointer lumps were. Nice smooth floor shift van tilt column on the cheap. Be in the first 2 buyers and I’ll give you deal. Do consider that there’s a bit of effort taking one apart and putting back together if it’s your first time.

Does this include the shift tube also?

Are all measurements the exact same size as the original part? If so I will take one

No that is just for display so that you can see the part installed properly. Just the sleeve.

The picture of the beige piece, is that a 3D bowl? Do you have a picture of a column using the 3d bowl completely assembled?

That is the steering wheel end fully assembled without a wheel or tilt/signal levers. The top sleeve on this one still needs to have the light bulb hole filled. I'll get a pic of this complete column posted up tonight.

Internally the part that slips over the tube looks different than stock one but you can't see it when installed. It is as close as I can get it. It is not absolutely identical but it is very close. It is not a cast metal part like an original so it is not possible to make it identical. It is worth noting that once the shift lever is gone this is only a cosmetic piece. It had a mechanical purpose with a lever and needed to be very strong. That requirement is gone when the shift lever is gone.
(correction) An original floor shift non tilt column has just a cast sleeve that works exactly like this printed one.

Please PM me your shipping details so I can figure out shipping. You are the first buyer so I'll let you have it for a discounted US 40$ price. One more left at this price for buyer number two. Also as the first buyer I can chuck one up in the lathe and sand the bulk of the print lines out of it if you are going to prep, prime and paint it. I'll get you a pic of the stock one and a printed one side by side.

An original floor shift non tilt column has just a plastic sleeve like this here as well.

StingRay, regarding that last part of your above quoted info in bold, could it be possible that you are thinking of a later model year or application of steering column? As an fyi, all 1967-72 C/K model four speed manual non-tilt steering columns used the same p/n 3902569 pot metal extension (bell/bowl) housing with no shift lever, see below pics from our old saved folder archives. Re: Van/RV Tilt column floor shift conversion sleeve

I just took another look at the non tilt in my one ton. I thought it was plastic but you are correct . Sorry about that yes the non tilt is indeed a metal bowl/sleeeve. It doesn't change that my part is printed nylon carbon/fiber and can't be made 100% identical to a cast stock part that a factory tilt column would have had. It'll provide a cost effective way to get into a quality floor shift tilt with an appropriate appearance. Thanks for the input. I have corrected that mistake.

I got one of the 3D shift bowls from Ray and built a floor shift column using the 3D bowl. Once it was painted it assembled just like an original. It fit the shift tube perfectly. I welded up the hole for the light on the upper housing from an automatic tilt column and painted all pieces in gloss black. If anyone is thinking about buying one of the 3D shift bowls to build their own floor shift tilt column I would recommend buying this.

This collar fits perfect and I would buy again if I find another column to convert over. Now I just have to wait for the correct hazard button, tilt lever and turn signal lever and it will be ready,
Thanks again!

It could be that your pictures are too big. There is a file size limit.
