CPP Disc Brake Conversion Compatibility Question
I currently have the CPP 6 lug disc brake conversion for the front end of my 67 pickup, with a 2.5" drop spindle. Works great.
Plans are changing for the suspension, going frame laying with PB stuff. This has made me begin to look at the wheel market, specifically 20" and larger, and most wheels only come in 5 lug. SOOOO my question is, can I go from my 6 lug rotors and pick up, say, a set of rotors from a 71-72 C10 2WD 5 lug, and will it drop right onto the spindle? Bearings and all? Maybe with 71-72 bearings? Would love info on this if people have done it before, as it will save a ton of money as opposed to going and buying a new kit. |
Re: CPP Disc Brake Conversion Compatibility Question
Any 71-87 5-lug HD rotor (1.25” width)
will swap directly on your spindles. |
Re: CPP Disc Brake Conversion Compatibility Question
That's some good info in Lowlife99's link.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...ons/icon14.gif I was thinking that not all all of the 67-70 dropped spindle/disc brake kits used 71-87 1.25" rotors and calipers, but I could be wrong.
I really did things the hard way before 67-70 specific kits were available, because I now have a combination of OE-type parts from various years --center link & tie rods ends to ball joints to spindles, calipers, and rotors. At least made-in-USA Moog parts were available and not too expensive back then. |
