1956-1959 CA Year of Mfr Plates

Hey folks i am normally in 60-66 threads but i found a couple California 1956-1959 commercial/truck license plates while doing research for a buddy (who deos not want them) I am NOT selling these, just passing on the find to this group. They look like good condition and they are CA DMV clear as i called them in. You would have to make sure from seller they are original and not repro’s but they look legit to me and in good condition. They work for CA ‘56-‘59 commercial vehicle with the correct YOM sticker (available on eBay). And for $50 compared to up over $300 a pair on ePay well, worth a look! Good luck hope this helps somebody and i would like to hear if they work out for ya. I just went through the process with 1963 CA YOM plates. There is a DMV form to fill out and bring your old and the new plates in for approval.
The guy emailed me back quickly if i recall he is in FL and they’re from his personal collection

The CA process sounds like Ohio. I have year correct plates on all 3 trucks. The 42 has Farm plates (white with green characters), the 59 (white with red) and 67 (blue with white) have Truck plates. I have found that Farm plates are the more difficult to find. Not counting State, County, dealer, and some other plates. The length of the 42 plates depends on the number of characters on the plate. Just talking.

Boy Howdy those do looks New as in never run. I always have wondered if back in the attic or basement of some of the courthouses or county storerooms in rural counties if there are batches of original never issued plates sitting on the shelves or in boxes. That as in the state sends you the number of plates they think you will use in a certain time period and you don't use them up and they get stuck in the dusty back room along with the old oak chair with the tear in the leather that used to be in the commissioner's office and the old ten key adding machine that got put back there when the electrionic on got bought but was still on the property list so it couldn't be gotten rid of until the county did a proper sale.
