Rear Bumper Brackets Install

Getting ready to install the bumper on my 70 C10 that now has frame mounted fuel tank installed.
That leads to making it difficult to tighten the rear bumper brackets without dropping the tank.
I'm thinking about welding the nuts to the brackets, mount brackets to the bumper, then installing the bumper.

Is there any reason not to do it this way?

Thanks

That is what the previous owner had done to my 71 short bed. Kind of did a botched job. Have since removed bumper and rolled the pan when completely redid truck. Probably better remove the tank when comes time to weld in the nuts. I really did need to say that, did I.

If he is going to weld the nuts to the brackets he should be able to do that with them off of the truck.

I plan on welding the nuts to the bracket while they are off the truck.
