Just trying to make a contribution to the forum. I am finally able to drive my new truck!
I have learned so much from this forum and sincerely wanted to say thanks to all! Ill post some more pics of the progress I've made. Bob |
Re: Picture test of my 63
A short list of the work I've done... Drop springs and spindles. Wheels and tires. Sway bar. Disk brake conversion with power brakes. Tank relocate to rear. Short bed conversion, 12" front, 6" rear. Steering column. Rear bumper tuck. Copius amounts of rust repair to cab, fenders hood, bed, still need to replace rockers and door bottoms.
0nce that's complete I'll start the long road of learning how to do body work to get ready for paint. |

Some more. I forgot to mention the power steering conversion as well. I used capt. fabs bracket. Getting the pulley offsets correct was a challenge. Everything was really, as I've never done anything like this. I built the exhaust from the headers back. They dump at rear axle. The motor was in the truck when I bought it. Its a tbi motor that I converted to hei and 4 barrel.

Nice work. :metal:
What will you do with all that room behind the seat? |
Re: Picture test of my 63
Thanks for the compliment. There is no room behind the seats. They are literally shoved against the back of cab. Im 6'4" so needed everything I could get. Im working on a templet for a center console to go between the seats.

I think I have your truck's twin all the way on the other coast. Your truck looks great. I like the white steelies. I think steelies are starting to grow on me and even though I have a set of truck ralleys, I may end up with steelies.

Re: Picture test of my 63
Thanks for the kind words fellas!
Pick 121, I'll see what I have for more photos of the tank ect. I know it was the 17gallon blazer tank kit. It fit well. The seats are out of a bmw. Until I find a decent bench seat to restore. The bed wood is old barn wood that I milled down. Hopefully it will last a few years. Ron, this is funny, my wife and I watched a few of your videos last night and couldn't believe the similarities between our trucks. Great work your doing btw! And yes, the steelies are growing on me as well. They weren't my first choice but the price was decent and I really wanted a driving project. If anyone needs a 17 spline original posi I have one. I converted to 30 spline axles with the new rear diff build. Bob |
Re: Picture test of my 63
I did the same thing. Meaning I converted to 30 spline. Mine didn't have a posi so the only one I could get was the 30 spline which I am sure you found out as well. Thanks for watching some of the videos. I am happy to finally be moving on to the cab.

Thanks for posting. You're doing great. Nothing the feel of driving something you did with your own skill and resources
