2 Questions on CPP Disc brake Kit

2 Attachment(s)
I just put the CPP front disc brake kit on my truck. I had two questions. The kit came with a rubber gromet in the picture below. I am not sure what that was for and didn't see a place in the assemble to use it. Did anyone else get one of these in their kits and figured out what to do with it?

The other question is with the brake line hoses. They seem very long. I am wondering when the wheel is turned all the way towards the crossmember if they will kink. Anyone else have this issue with the CPP kits?

I think they wedge those in the calipers to keep the piston from coming out of the bore during shipping. They're not used anywhere on the truck itself.

For the brake hose, I just twisted mine enough to add a loop to to take up the slack.

I used the same kit as well. I couldn't figure out the donut either, so left it out.
I did the same with brake line. Twisted and confirmed it wasn't rubbing. I did put one of those protective sleeves over the hose just to be sure it wouldn't rub through as quick if there was movement. Its the kind of sleeve that is a series of tight coils. Ultimately, I want to order shorter houses.

Yes, I may end up looking for shorter hoses too. I will try the loop that you both recommended and see how that goes. I don't want to change these out till I see how the steel brake lines work. I bought pre-bent lines from Inline Tube, so want to make sure I don't have to make other modifications.

I Installed the Right Stuff front power disc brake conversion on my 65 C10. Can someone recommend a pre bent line kit that they have actually used. So far I have tried Right Stuff, CPP and Inline Tube. They all have fitment issues. Right now, I am not interested in making my own lines but that may change. I don't mind paying for something that actually fits and looks good. Thanks, Hairball

You should be able to use mid 70's brake lines. I didn't use CPP's brake conversion. I used mid 70's spindles and ball joints along with the brake lines. I tired to just post a picture but couldn't so here is the whole thread. Picture is in the first post. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=727826 I think your hose is the same length as the mid 70's. It might be the location of your hard line that is doing it.

My hose mounting location is on the back side of the crossmember. Looks like you routed yours to the front which is probably the right way with this length hose. Does the 65 originally mount on the back side of the crossmember or did that change after 63?

The brake hose was mounted on the back side of the crossmember into the 1970 model year.
71-72 they were on a tab on the front side of the crossmember.
73-87 ran the hose all the way to the frame rail. Also on the front side.

The length of hose probably matches the 71-72. Pretty sure I read that the CPP kits is based on the 71-72 spindle and caliper. Still have few kinks to work out on the brakes/chassis, but for now moving on to the cab.

Mine is mounted where the 73 to 87 location. When I did my first truck I had the luxury of having a 75 front clip that was cut off of a frame. I just took the plumbing from that truck and bolted into my truck and it all fell in line. I can try and get some better photo's later. This is the best one I have on my computer.
