Color match bedliner or not ?
The bed of my truck is pretty nice, would it be an abomination to spray it on color matched bedliner? I think if myself or my wife ever sold the truck the value would be more if it were closer to original.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Depends on if you need a truck to do truck stuff, or you think the nifty style of the 67/72 makes you look good when you haul golf clubs to the country club in it. |
Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
A common presumption when people see bed liner applied to vintage vehicles is that it is hiding rust or poor body work.
Here's more opinions. https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...d.php?t=601309 |
Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
I hate the look of bedliner. Only place I would put it on is the underside of the cab or bed floor when doing a resto. Or for a beat truck that is actually getting used as a truck. x2 on the earlier comment of the perception of it hiding stuff.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
If you’re going to use it as a truck like putting a ton of gravel in it then a liner would be a good addition . But I kinda doubt that you would . Like said I see a spray liner in an old truck my first thought is what are they hiding .

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
I use a rubber mat to protectbed floor. They don't make them for our years, but I have one from a 73-87 long bed in the 70. I take it out to air out a bit to keepmoiture from building up under the mat.

I color matched spray in bed liner, did roll over the top of the bed and below lower trim.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
There are plastic bed liners one can drop in, although they are all black. At least if one wants to toss it before selling the truck, they can do that, having a nice bed.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
The Old School solution was a plywood sheet. You could cut one down to fit a shortbed stepside. 2 or 3 inches off the side and 2 feet off the end.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
In the past I have bought the stall mats from the farm store. They have ones that are really thick and heavy and when cut to fit they make a great bed liner
The previous owner of my truck put a drop in liner in and it looks ok but I am not a fan as they trap dirt underneath and move around wearing paint |
Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
I like the bed floor the guy made out of Trex decking but I wonder how it has held up

IMO, if you're going to do it, then match the color.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
If your box is in good shape, not beat or dinged up and the paint, your truck has had some paint work but don't know if has been completely repainted, is in good shape I'd leave it as it is as the more original the truck the better for resale if that is your concern. As a footnote does your truck have a tilt steering column?

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
Mine is still some of the original color, but when I get to painting it, I'll have a hard time putting color in the bed just to watch it get scratched up

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
I've heard mixed things about bed liners so I went with implement paint. Extremely easy to touch up and if you ever need to do any type of rust repair, it's easy to remove. Once it's fully cured, it has proved to be pretty durable for me at least.

Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
Has anyone done the roll it yourself bedliner
|
Re: Color match bedliner or not ?
FWIU the color matched bedliners will fade very quick if not protected with a cover. Will still fade over time even covered. Will just use black if I go the bedliner direction.
The roll on liner is not as durable as as others. May be fine if you do not use bed much. |
